Day 1

Today was my first REAL day on the dukan diet. Having finally finished the book and having my last "blow out day" on Friday, saying goodbye to my cherished Gin and Tonics and a final farewell to wheat based products!
After seeing some truly horrible pictures of me at the a university ball in January, I felt that it was best to start. I mean according to those pictures my arms resemble bulging tree trunks and my legs...lets not even mention my thighs at present!

I've had the most success with carb controlled diets in the past, due to the fact that I tend to retain a heck of a lot of water when I eat bread. (If I'm not allowed bread then I'm not even tempted by it, but give me an inch...and I'll take a mile. No bread. Bad bread.) So after a friend had very good results with Dukan I decided to give it a go. I'm a big fan of protein and the foods I was allowed all seemed appetising. I understand the science and principles behind the diet and they all made sense for me (which is a very important thing for me, I need facts to back up new life choices not drivel (Gillian McKeith...Dr? pah!)

So I've been trying out recipes before starting for about a month now, I've got a few favourites to help me through the first few weeks. My biggest downfall when dieting tends to be making something diet-friendly only to come to eat it and it being bloody horrible - which usually results in me eating something completely inappropriate.

So today went as follows:
Breakfast: zero fat yogurt and 1tbs of oatbran (thankyou aldi!)
Lunch: Chicken broth
Snack: egg/quark/chicken slices/herbs - sort of a strange very tasty scrambled eggs.
Supper: Salmon/smoked haddock/cod diced and served with a dill and parsley dukan friendly white sauce. This was a highlight I must admit!

Am currently enjoying free reign with a filter full of black coffee. Perfect.

Planning lunch for tomorrow, It looks to be tinned tuna in spring water mixed with cottage cheese and some pepper and coriander. Easy to tupperware and store in my locker till lunch.
